Bring your client list over — then never maintain a spreadsheet again.

Whether you are leaving another legal platform or a color-coded Excel workbook, LawNest imports clients from CSV so you start with a clean client directory and open matters from there.

How it works for your practice

Step 1

Export from your current system

Download a client export from Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, or save your spreadsheet as CSV. Include name, email, phone, and address columns at minimum.

Step 2

Upload to LawNest

During onboarding, upload your CSV to the import tool. Map columns to client fields and review the preview before confirming.

Step 3

Open active matters

For each active client, open a matter from a practice-area template. Checklists and tasks spawn so you pick up where you left off.

Step 4

Cut over billing and portal

Start new time entries and invoices in LawNest. Invite active clients to the portal for documents and payments going forward.

Export clients from Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, or Excel as CSV
Required columns: name, email, phone — optional fields map to client profile on import
Review imported clients before opening matters — duplicate detection flags likely matches
Open matters manually or from templates once clients are in the system
Onboarding support helps map non-standard exports during your free trial
